{"Sara Two Birds" ~ ink, watercolor, newspaper. 12" by 16"}
yesterday, the sun came. i fell in love. i stood on the porch, just standing there, feeling it on my face. i sat upstairs writing, taking frequent breaks as it blinded my eyes in the late afternoon. i sat outside, for the 2nd time in months reading a book. my hands freeing up and going numb. but today it is grey again, a hint of blue off on the horizon. some other person, in some other town that i can even see from here, is standing with the sun on their face. sometimes, a short distance can seem so impossibly far.
yesterday, amongst other mental diversions, i considered pulling the car out of the garage into the driveway, and riding my bike around in there, in the tiniest of circles. a bird, spinning the sky. a deer in a field. around and around and around, the wheels on cement. the bicycle is begging me, seducing me. it is nearly irresistable. the mouth waters. the legs. the skin. the man. oh dear spring, let me have you. stop playing hard to get, and lose yourself in my arms. i need you.
a good {non-cycling-in-circles-in-garage} diversion.

when you are able to bike again you should definetly check out the Kolapore trails up and around meaford and collingwood. They are some of the most beautiful and challenging trails in Ontario (so i have heard). I think you can find info on them if you do a google search of kolapore.
here is to hoping that spring comes tomorrow.
cheers

Its easy to be an artist when you live off your girlfriend's wages. How about you two wonder about the wonders of yourselves a tiny bit less and get out and volunteer for something other than your own artistic aspirations?

Hi! I've been a secret reader for a while, but I put a link to you on the sidebar of my new blog and I thought I'd let you know. If you'd like me to take it off just send me an e-mail, I know some people are sensitive about that. :)

rhya~ i will certainly check them out. {the trails} at this point, the snow begins to give way to the sun, and my legs smile. the road reveals itself slowly.
caroline~ i'm flattered. thank you. always stunned and excited to know that my words effect people. this community can be so beautiful at times.
lorena~ i read winter by rick bass and enjoyed it quite a bit, likely because i'm experienceing my own first winter like this. platte river is somewhat strange and beautiful. a quick read, that i'm enjoying. three short stories, that all have a dreamlike quality. ethereal and wispy. good stuff indeed.
ron~ funny and poignant. well done. thanks for the link.

j (and all book-lovers) - good book i recommend...not exactly gabriel-garcia-marquez-like, but deep and moving, about society, a greek family's story of 3 generations..."Middlesex" by Jefferey Eugenides.
